Sometimes you may need to write a report or essay to a certain number of words. Word can be used to count how many words there are in your report, or even in just an area you have selected.
To make a word count of your entire document, click Tools and then Word Count.
The new window will give you the word count and some other details about your document.
There is a tick box that can include footnotes and endnotes if these need to be counted towards your total, but as a default they are not added.
If you just need to know a word count on part of your document, then select the area to be counted.
Then click Tools, Word Count.
The new window will give you the Word Count and other details about your selected area.
